So September see's the end of another season for Tatsfield Village Cricket Club and what a season it has been.  To date the club has played 17 Sunday fixtures and had a very successful tour to Havant which incorporated three further fixtures.  Of the Sunday matches TVCC have won 11 matches and lost just 6, a new record for the club.

Some of the individual and team performances this season have been outstanding.  Good team victories vs Albamorphics, Verdayne Green, Beechwood, Oakhill Taverners and Platt proved that on it's day the Tatsfield Village CC team are a match for most teams.  As ever there were also defeats in matches that we could have won, but the cricket was played in a good spirit regardless of the result.

A few players deserve a special mention, Gary Weaver in his debut season has scored 649 runs at an average of 59, which included innings of 107* and 104.  Chris Heasman scored 525 runs and taken 24 wickets including a 5-15.  Ben Shannon averages 70 with the bat, and James Enever has taken 23 wickets.   The fielding has varied from the world class to terrible, but without the odd highly amusing misfield Sunday afternoons just wouldn't be the same!

What has been quite satisfying this year is that it appears at long last the word has got out in the village that there is a cricket club at Furze Corner!  On numerous occasions we have welcomed spectators to the club. On a warm Sunday afternoon in Tatsfield is there a better way of spending a few hours than enjoying a spot of cricket with refreshment in hand - I very much doubt it.  Hopefully next season we can welcome a few more spectators to the club.

So with only one fixture left, the club is looking forward to the End of Season Awards night in early October, the "traditional" Cricket Club Christmas Curry in December and training sessions which start again in January.  As ever the excellent TVCC website is a good source of information http://tatsfield.play-cricket.com/home/home.asp with match reports, photos, contact details etc. Finally for any eagled eyed cricket fans, look out for the Tatsfield Village CC flag out in South Africa during the South Africa vs England Test Match Series!

Cheers
